Position Description
We are seeking to hire a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Critical Quantitative Methods, whose expertise and epistemic foundations critically challenge and reimagine dominant and Eurocentric approaches, described by Zuberi and Bonilla Silva (2008) as "White Logic, White Methods." The goal of this search is to hire a quantitative methodologist/theorist who exemplifies the School of Education's commitment to justice, anti-racism, and equity. While candidates may take on a variety of specific research directions, they must employ a critical quantitative approach to addressing educational problems of practices. We are most interested in candidates who are dedicated to advancing critical quantitative methods to explicitly engage issues of power, oppression, marginalization and/or the liberatory possibilities of education. Critical quantitative scholars from the traditions of QuantCrit and/or those utilizing a Critical Race Praxis in Educational Research are especially well suited for this position. We welcome applications with any area of research, but especially those focused on the populations we serve at UCR and in the Inland Empire.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications (required at time of application):
* An earned doctorate in Education or Higher Education, Quantitative Methods, or related fields with a specialization in Education (e.g., Sociology, Psychology, Ethnic Studies, Policy studies, Public Health). Those in related fields should demonstrate sustained engagement in education.
* A successful record (if at the Associate level) or capacity (if at the Assistant level) for high impact research and scholarly publications
* Established record (if at the Associate level) of external research funding
* Evidence (if at the Associate level) or capacity (if at the Assistant level) for effective teaching and advising of both undergraduate and graduate-level students who have been historically underrepresented in the University of California, such as Black and Indigenous students, who remain underrepresented in the SOE
* Capacity to support and guidance of dissertations using critical quantitative methods
* Demonstrated knowledge of PK-16 educational equity issues and limiting structures
* Demonstrated commitment and approach to advancing critical quantitative methods, and equity across research, teaching, service, and public engagement
Preferred Qualifications
* Capacity to support the development of a new quantitative methods series
* Capacity to teach quantitative methods courses at the graduate level (could be at intro. level)
* Contributions that address the needs of California's culturally, linguistically, and educationally diverse population, particularly advancing critical quantitative methods relevant to learning, engagement and success of residents of the Inland Empire are particularly desirable.
* Racial literacies in advancing educational and racial justice.
* Understanding of the intersections of systemic racism, antiblackness, coloniality, cisheteropatriarchy, classism, and ableism in reproducing inequities in education.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See Table 1 () for the salary ranges. "Off-scale salaries" and other components of pay, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.

Advancement through the faculty ranks at the University of California is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations, occurring every 2-3 years, each of which includes substantial peer input. Inquiries about the position should be directed to the search committee co-chairs, Uma M. Jayakumar ( [email protected] ) and Soojin Park ( [email protected] ).

Interested candidates should submit an electronic application to that includes a cover letter describing current and proposed future areas of research, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, recent teaching evaluations, and a statement of past and/or planned contributions to advancing diversity and inclusive excellence. Additionally, applicants at the Assistant level should submit three letters of reference while applicants at the Associate level should include information for at least 4 people who can be contacted for letters of recommendation (extramural letters will be solicited by the University for the top candidate).
