About the Department:

The Department of Psychology ( has a diverse student body of over 1,500 undergraduate majors and over 350 graduate students, many of whom are first generation college students. We are one of the largest departments in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, which is the largest academic unit at George Mason. The department has over 50 faculty members, including 9 instructional, non-tenure-track faculty positions. Non-tenure-track instructional faculty are vital to the department in their support of its instructional mission. They are expected to be fully familiar with research but are not expected to be research productive. Non-tenure-track faculty are fully integrated in the department, with voting rights commensurate with rank and status and with similar access to resources, such as travel funds and professional development opportunities, as tenure-track faculty. About the Position:

The Term Assistant Professor supports both the clinical psychology doctoral program and the undergraduate program. More specifically, the Term Assistant Professor participates in teaching of doctoral level courses and supervision of doctoral students? clinical work in our community-based training clinic ( and teaching at the undergraduate level.

Responsibilities:

• Teaches graduate courses in the clinical psychology program in the psychology department, including courses involving supervising clinical doctoral students in the provision of therapy and/or assessment services; and
• Teaches undergraduate courses in the psychology department. 

Required Qualifications:

• Terminal degree in a related field from an APA-accredited health service psychology program;
• A commitment to the education of a diverse student body;
• A strong interest and expertise in evidence-based behavioral health approaches, such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and Exposure and Response Prevention;
• Experience providing supervision in cognitive behavioral therapy is required;
• Knowledge of evidence-based behavioral health approaches, such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and Exposure and Response Prevention;
• The ability to provide supervision in cognitive behavioral therapy is required; and
• Clinical license or license-eligible in Virginia.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree from a clinical science based training program;
• Experience providing culturally responsive care and the ability to supervise assessments; and
• Knowledge of culturally responsive care and the ability to supervise assessments.
