About Us:
South Shore Conservatory (SSC) is a community school for the arts on Boston’s South Shore, welcoming individuals of all ages and abilities. With campuses in Hingham and Duxbury, SSC’s arts-based educational programs provide a creative path for a lifetime of learning, from childhood through adulthood, through outstanding faculty and nationally-celebrated programming in music instruction, ensembles, dance, early childhood education, creative arts therapy, performance, and community and public school partnerships.

Responsibilities:
The Suzuki Program Lead is a piano faculty member with deep experience in Suzuki pedagogy. 

Program Leadership
  • Teach private lessons to piano students using the Suzuki philosophy.
  • Build strong, trusting, and supportive relationships with students, and families.
  • Coordinate and, where appropriate, lead the family and group class components central to the Suzuki philosophy, ensuring meaningful parent involvement and collaborative group learning experiences.
  • Write an annual Suzuki program report and maintain regular communications with Suzuki students and families about program events and initiatives.
  • Plan and coordinate Suzuki student and faculty events, recitals, workshops, and community outreach, in collaboration with other departments.
Community Engagement
  • Actively support student, family, and faculty engagement, fostering a welcoming and inclusive Suzuki community.
  • Serve as a customer service-focused ambassador for SSC and the Suzuki program, embodying the core values of the Conservatory and the Suzuki philosophy.
  • Inspire Suzuki faculty, students, and families to participate in SSC programs, events, and initiatives.
  • Monitor, promote, and expand Suzuki student enrollment and retention.
  • Understand and advance SSC’s broader strategic goals, educational initiatives, and fiscal position as they relate to Suzuki education.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Serve as a positive and productive bridge between Suzuki faculty and SSC administration.
Faculty Support and Development
  • Support recruitment, hiring, orientation, onboarding, and retention of Suzuki faculty.
  • Understand the needs, strengths, and challenges of Suzuki faculty members.
  • Establish open and transparent communication channels, including annual one-to-one meetings with each Suzuki faculty member.
  • Lead or co-execute the observation process for prospective and current Suzuki faculty.
  • Promote professional development, Suzuki teacher training, and peer mentorship.
  • Foster a culture of collegiality, reflection, and continuous improvement within the Suzuki faculty.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
  • Degree in music performance or education, with significant Suzuki teaching experience. Priority consideration given to faculty with graduate-level degrees and Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA) certification or equivalent.
  • Deep knowledge of and commitment to Suzuki pedagogy and philosophy, including the essential role of family involvement and group learning.
  • Experience coordinating or managing faculty, with a demonstrated ability to build community and mentor colleagues.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; proven success working collaboratively with parents, students, faculty, and staff.
What Else You Should Know:

This job operates in a school-based office and studio environment, with requirements consisting of the ability to sit or stand at a desk, frequent walking, bending, and standing as necessary.

Designated days and schedule of work will vary based on the needs of SSC and the Suzuki program, which can include Monday through Saturday, with some weekend, evening, and early morning work due to SSC’s events calendar.
