Chez Noir is a Michelin Starred restaurant located in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea. We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Sommelier to join our team. A good fit for this role is a wine professional who can maintain a warm, calm, and graceful floor presence while operating in a high-energy service. They should have a passion for hospitality, an innate drive to learn and grow, and come to work with the goal of bettering themselves and their team daily. The menu changes frequently here at Chez Noir which necessitates that parts of the wine program can pivot alongside it.

Key Responsibilities:
- Curate and manage the wine list, by-the-glass wines, pairing selections, and monthly wine club, ensuring a diverse selection that complements our menu, and fits with the ethos of the program.
- Provide wine recommendations to guests based on their preferences and food choices.
- Boost wine sales via proactive service and expansion of our offerings.
- Understand all aspects of service and be support for the FOH team during service.
- Conduct wine tastings and educate staff on wine offerings and proper service techniques.
- Maintain inventory and oversee wine storage conditions.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new releases, and emerging regions.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to select innovative wine pairings for our ever-changing menu.
- Deliver exceptional and warm service, ensuring a memorable dining experience for all guests.

Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Sommelier. Fine dining experience a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of wines, including varietals, regions, and pairing techniques.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and multitasking skills.
- Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work a high-energy service and exhibit grace under pressure.
- Previous experience running a restaurant wine program is ideal but not required. We will mentor the right candidate.
