Job Summary:
Analyzes patient charts for chart deficiencies and accurately identifies incomplete reports needed to reflect the care and treatment given during a hospital visit. Organizes files, updates chart tracking information, and supports general office operations efficiently and in a timely manner. Duties may also include maintaining the physician suspension system.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Analyzes the patient chart for completeness and accuracy of the medical record.
Creates deficiencies, produces deficient chart documentation and enters the information into the EMR system. Adheres to productivity standards as defined by the department.
Re-analyzes patient records for updating chart deficiencies after each chart assignment, documenting and updating the chart status in the tracking system accurately and in a timely manner.
Provides customer service to internal and external customers including patients, patients’ family members, medical staff, clinicians and other hospital personnel.
Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
High school degree required, Associates Degree preferred with appropriate clerical skills or at least three years equivalent experience in a healthcare environment.
Must have knowledge of medical terminology and computer applications.
Knowledge/experience in health information applications preferred.
Ability to work without constant supervision.
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be proficient in the English language.
