Description

FMI Aerostructures is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team in the aerostructures industry. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing manufacturing processes for the machining of aluminum and titanium structures. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in aerospace manufacturing, with a minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a similar role.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Design and develop manufacturing processes specific to aerospace components and systems.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability of aerospace products.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production issues.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Coordinate with quality assurance team to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Evaluate and select machinery, tools, and equipment for production processes.
  • Provide technical support and training to production staff regarding new processes and equipment.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and areas for process improvement.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to support product development and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing or a related industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Strong understanding of aerospace materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, such as AS9100 and ISO 9001.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and quality assurance techniques.
  • Proficiency in using manufacturing execution systems (MES) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and risk management standards in aerospace manufacturing.
