Position: Maintenance Technician 1.

Division: Administration.

Department: Facilities and Maintenance.

Supervised by: Facilities & Maintenance Director.

FLSA classification: Non-Exempt.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Job Location: Yakima - Multiple Locations.

Salary: $20.57-$26.84.

Position Overview:

Performs a variety of skilled duties in one or more of the building trades such as painting, carpentry, minor electrical, dry wall or other recognized crafts for the purpose of maintaining, repairing or remodeling OIC of Washington owned and operated buildings and facilities. Respond to the urgent repair needs of all OIC properties when necessary. Responsible for applying basic fixes to equipment and building systems and ensuring facilities are tidy and functional.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on building systems, machinery, and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and basic HVAC issues.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify hazards, defects, or needed repairs.
  • Performing fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls, etc.
  • Checking control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and supply storage
  • Install appliances and equipment.
  • Respond quickly to emergency maintenance calls and minimize downtime
  • Landscaping by mowing, trimming, collecting trash, etc.
  • Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems.
  • Check functionality of systems (e.g. fire alarms).
  • Collaborate with staff and other professionals during renovations.
  • Report to facilities and maintenance manager on issues.
  • Forklift and food bank support as directed by manager.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and company policies.
  • Support facility upgrades, renovations, and improvement projects.
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled department and agency meetings/trainings.
  • Communicate effectively to staff, clients, visitors, manager, and directors as needed.
  • Ensure agency vehicles are maintained and operational at all times.
  • Receive and manage tasks through an electronic ticketing system.
  • Advanced skills in building and office maintenance.
  • Advanced skills in building and office renovations.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Special Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and training skills.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. Experience using hand and electrical tools.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and drawings. Basic computer skills for email and logging maintenance work.
  • Excellent people skills, including maintaining composure and calm during stressful situations, such as disciplinary and discharge actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize sound judgment, work effectively and calmly under pressure and maintain high level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple complex projects with critical deadlines.
  • Able to demonstrate a genuine concern and respect for all cultures and diverse populations served by OIC.

  • Occasionally drive a motor vehicle in different seasonal weather and road conditions and times of day.
  • Physically able to lift 50+ lbs., climb ladders, and perform manual labor as needed.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or move objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to reach, push/pull, and stoop.


Additional Conditions of Employment:

Successfully pass a Criminal History & Background Check and pass a pre-employment drug test.

Maintain a current driver's license, require motor vehicle insurance, reliable vehicle, and good driving record. Employment is conditional on CEO approval.
