This teacher will integrate content learning with language development via activities where the main topics come from the regular curriculum content areas (i.e., social studies, mathematics, science) so that language is acquired in a meaningful context. In addition, this teacher will join the expanded team of teachers who lead differentiated small reading groups.

  • Classroom Management: Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where all students feel confident and motivated to explore the French language.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with fellow teachers, staff, and administrators to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to student learning across subjects.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional learning and stay current with the best practices in language teaching and childhood education.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach two small-group reading groups.
  • Assess, monitor, and analyze student progress using formal and informal assessments.

  • Language Skills: Native or near-native proficiency in French, with an ability to engage students in conversation and provide authentic language input.
  • Passion for Teaching: A genuine passion for working with young learners and fostering a love of language and culture.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to work well with students, parents, and colleagues.
