CONSTRUCTION CONTROLLER

As the Controller, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of our commercial construction firm. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of financial planning, analysis, reporting, and control. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, possess excellent leadership and communication skills, and be capable of driving financial strategy to support the company's growth objectives.

• Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
• Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with relevant regulations and accounting standards.
• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
• Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing insightful reports to senior management to support decision-making and strategic planning.
• Collaborate with project managers and estimators to ensure accurate cost accounting, project budgeting, and profitability analysis.
• Conduct financial analysis to identify areas for cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and revenue enhancement.
• Oversee cash flow management, including monitoring banking activities, maintaining relationships with financial institutions, and optimizing working capital.
• Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate annual audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.
• Provide leadership and guidance to the finance and accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in construction accounting and finance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 2 years in a controller or similar role within the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, cost accounting, and project management methodologies.
• Proficiency in financial management software, ERP systems, and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management.
• Detail-oriented mindset, with a focus on accuracy, integrity, and compliance.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
